Originally developed for use on marble sheen finishing in swimming pools, the blade is allowed to flex with only a short support rib (see tools Nos. 120A, 121A, 122A & 126A).
A further development from this is a similar trowel with a longer rib for greater rigidity in the blade (see 'S' series).

The blade is made from 3 mm thick low-density white polyethelene and is fixed to a light weight plastic handle. Originally developed to trowel marble sheen in swimming pools, but now finds a wider use on various wall applications.

The blade is made from a flexible spring steel and the tool is used to cut and scrape spraycrete to desired shape in swimming pools and similar applications.
